What is Mom Prom?
The first ever Mom Prom® was organized by Betsy Crapps in Canton, MI in 2006 and was held at St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church. Mom Prom® is a ladies night out for charity in which women wear their old prom gowns, bridesmaids dresses, wedding gowns, or formals and dance the night away for a worthy cause.
Betsy never could have imagined when she called up some friends for a girls night out that it would turn into a national movement inspiring women to party for a good cause. The idea spread and she started partnering with other women who wanted to do the same thing.
When Michelle Bohm heard about the idea in 2012 she got to work creating the first Central IL Mom Prom raising money for various organizations that she cared about like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Ten years later it became the signature event for the Inspired Foundation held annually the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
Now there are hundreds of Mom Prom® happening all over the country. See if there is one near you here. The Central IL Mom Prom® is always held the Saturday before Mother’s Day at the Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino in East Peoria, IL.
Mom Prom really caught on and even made the Weekend Update with Seth Meyers on SNL. You know you’ve made it big when SNL makes a joke about you! It is impossible to estimate how many people have benefited from this crazy idea but millions have been raised for various charities across the country.
In addition to the fundraising, Mom Prom is a fun community event that hundreds of women look forward to. Some families have made it a tradition and come every year to celebrate Mother’s day together. This women only event is held the Saturday before Mother’s Day, but you do not have to be a mom to attend.

Each year the mom prom committee tries to outdo itself with an elaborate theme party. The 2023 theme is “Under the BigTop” We can’t wait to see what costumes you come up with. Let the countdown begin!

Mom prom is an annual Girl’s Night Out for charity that is held at the Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino the Saturday before Mother’s Day. We chose this event and date specifically because our friends told us they were looking for something fun to do with all the women the love. It’s become a decade long tradition for many mothers, sisters, cousins and friends to enjoy.
